On September 4th 2007 lodge 22, North Star Lodge, chartered in the city of Roseau. Most of the new members had been members of lodge 8 and due to the enormous areas that lodge 8 covered, the members in the north were asked to start a new local lodge.

The thought was that starting a new lodge would improve attendance and keep activities and meetings within the communities that the officer worked in.

On September 4th 2007 at a lodge 8 meeting, we started a new lodge, #22 and voted on the name of our new lodge. The NORTH STAR LODGE.

Chad Maurstad was appointed president, Mike Siems was appointed Vice President, Brian DeMars was appointed trustee and John Roseborough was appointed Secretary/Treasurer.

At the first official meeting an election was held and Chad Maurstad remained president, Mike Siems remained Vice President, Brian DeMars remained Trusted, John Roseborough split the position of Secretary/Treasurer with Jeff Abrams. John was elected treasurer and Jeff was elected Secretary. Dan Bergrren was elected Sgt. At Arms and John Nyegaard was appointed Chaplin. Ruben Marichalar was elected Delegate at Large.

From there and a long learning process Lodge 22, North Star Lodge took off and is up an running.

As of December 2007 we were over 35 members and growing. Our lodge involves Roseau County Sheriff’s Office, Roseau Police, Warroad Police, Greenbush Police, Minnesota State Patrol, U.S. Border Patrol, U.S. Customs, Canada Border Protection, Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Thief River Falls Police, Marshall County Sheriff’s Office, and Several retired Law Enforcement Officers.

Our future plans include a summer fishing derby, the growth of our lodge to include surrounding counties, Canadian Officers, and the mounted posse.
